Well this is the perfect place to come to for tips on what to do and what not to do when theme making!
Here are some Do's and Don'ts
✓ Make sure the theme utilizes the dice roll RNG system built into PS!
✓ Make sure there is chance involved. ✓ Try to make original themes that are more than a slight modification of other themes. ✓ Make your theme easy to read, learn and understand. ✓ Make sure there is a way to determine one winner. ✓ Provide an example when you write up your theme to visually explain how to play it. ✓ Keep it fair for everyone. ✓ Be open to feedback and criticism from players and the approving staff on your theme and make changes accordingly. |
✘ Make a modification to an existing theme to pass as its own theme. Modifications can be submitted for approval as well but are not considered entire new themes.
✘ Make your theme overly complicated, really long or just plain confusing. People will be less likely to want to play/host your theme if this is the case. ✘ Make themes where one side is overpowered or there is any significant advantage given to any player. ✘ Make a list theme that only utilizes different roles in a list. This is not creative and will not be considered to be a theme. Consider modifying your theme idea if the list is the only thing that makes it unique. ✘ Refuse to make needed changes to your theme. Anyone with criticism is just trying to help make the theme the best it can be. |
Theme Making is not something that is limited to the Next Big Theme. If you would like to test out your theme, the Survivor Workshop subroom is a very good place to do that outside of the main Survivor chat. If you have questions or would like some help with your theme, post something in the Survivor Workshop or feel free to ask a Current Auth member directly.
