%Snap: I’m ready whenever you are.
@Paradise: Let's get it. We'll get to most of the standard questions, but I'm really just going to ask questions that I care about because most of these are boring to read if there isn't other shit that's asked.
%Snap: I just asked my own stuff because most of them sucked so I’m with it.
@Paradise: So I guess I'll start with what got you to stop being a tryhard? I remember you from a few years ago and your attitude's been different since you got back on staff.
%Snap: Honestly, I think my whole life centered around me trying to always be the best at something instead of being the best at being me and I channeled that into PS since I didn't work and school wasn't really hard. But when I got addicted to the bad drugs, and almost died a few times, it really put my whole life into perspective and now PS is just fun which is what it originally was anyways.
@Paradise: You still working on fighting that addiction? How'd you end up finding your way back here or were you like Spieky and floated on alts not letting anyone know it was you?
%Snap: No, I've been clean for a year and 5 months! and honestly more of the 2nd lmao. I would just kinda show up play a game or two of surv, occasionally vote abc in gc and leave again. But honestly, I didn't really want to be part of the drama that I felt like surrounded my name. My real life was too hard to pile anything PS related onto it at the time. Even now sometimes I get on the site and am not really sure who likes me or dislikes me or this or that, I've already had people say "xyz said this" and I just think that's all silly at this point over a pokemon site.
@Paradise: Congrats on being clean! I wouldn't worry too much about who likes you and who doesn't as long as you're having a good time on here; majority of the site has a high school mentality unless you're in a decent enough room. What ended up bringing you back to your name and becoming auth again?
%Snap: I missed surv. That's pretty much what it boiled down to. I wanted to be back with the most mature group of people I've found on PS. I've had so many people in surv help me during tough times, slap sense into me, and even just realize my own faults and grow as a person. I don't know if I'd even be alive without you, or PQ at times because y'all were always there for an idiot younger version of me even when I did dumb stuff. I've just always felt accepted and understood here which is something I'm not sure I've ever really had anywhere.
@Paradise: That's nice to hear you feel that way about the room. It wasn't always like that but it grew a lot over the years; I do miss PQ not being around anymore but I'm pretty sure he's figuring it out. Why do you think you haven't found that connection with any of the other rooms you were in? I remember we started that dumbass scrabble room that ended up going left after a few months. Was fun working with you when we started it though.
%Snap: Oh man, I still love everyone in scrabble. but honestly when I opened PS! back I was in 15 rooms. Between public and private and blase blase. And honestly when I left the room was getting 28 users consistently but by the time I came back, it felt like the whole room had died out and I could never see myself wanting to revive it. I tried reconnecting with Game Corner but I couldn't seem to have fun there, instantly got in an argument about how I couldn't vote for abc but someone else could vote for some other card game, and it ultimately set me off from the room as a whole. None of my other rooms had anyone that I really super connected with honestly (That doesn't overlap here). but I still sit in Survivor, Pokemon Go (I love some of the people there, they have a really nice small community), sports (because it's basketball season), and lobby because sometimes mindless shitpost is what my brain needs. And definitely was fun working on scrabble I currently have a 20-8 record against one of my managers in words with friends and he's moving me into his department and giving me a raise soon so I guess it helped
@Paradise: I couldn't get past all the ads in words with friends, but scrabble online is pretty good still. Now that you're back again and have been staffing for some time, what changes have you noticed in surv and PS in general?
%Snap: Well, I can't say I've paid much attention to ps other than surv if I'm honest. Every room I was in just seemed more strict now, everything feels like a less fun zone. Surv feels pretty much the same though. I mean besides obviously missing some really great users, the room itself feels the same other than the basic changes but I'm having a good time, just needs more life and more troll users. Honestly I almost miss help % just for the trolls, everything else was awful but I miss the PS trolls lol
@Paradise: yeah, more folks with personality would be nice, assuming that the auth doesn't smoke them with bans and mutes for it. In general, it seems like more rooms are moving towards trying to make shit serious and job-like. You mentioned you're in the working world now. What else you doing in your non PS time? Watch any decent movies?
%Snap: Honestly most of my non PS time I'm working, I work retail and am one of the few dependable people they have so they tend to fill my schedule pretty well. I honestly haven't watched a movie or tv show in months other than when I binged adventure time a couple weeks ago for nostalgia. I do go out to bars and shoot pool and drink though. I'm kinda lame like that, that's why I'm on PS. None of us really have THAT much of a life.
@Paradise: I forgot you sharked people. What you drinking these days?
%Snap: Sharking people is how I ate in college and paid for drugs. And honestly, if it's my way absolutely vodka, but at the bar I tend to drink different stuff pretty consistently lol. I hate beer so I tend to look for whatever will get me the drunkest and drink it so I can drink less.
@Paradise: Solid, the lady I'm dating now is a bartender and she hates the fact that her man only likes stuff like beer and jager. Retail means you end up with the irl trolls, have any decent terrible customer stories?
%Snap: jager is good. Oh absolutely. I'll start by saying we've had diapers left in grocery carts, the riding carts, and literally in our parking lot. Drug users in our bathrooms, and a lady died a couple weeks ago in the store. (old age, not cause of our store) so we're already a mess. (I'm gonna share 2) So a part of my job is selling lottery tickets, albeit not necessarily my job, I help them out with it. Well one day we had a tall gentleman come in and we were slammed, I was desperately trying to get my job done, and work on the schedule while also not letting our front end get backed up. This man approaches me complaining that the line for lottery was taking too long (my manager was the one running the desk so literally the best we got technically), and that's what I told him. he said okay and moved on. 45 seconds later I got called by my manager up to the service desk because she needed "help". Turns out this man had told her that I wasn't doing anything and that I'd probably speed up the process, so after learning that, I kicked the power plug out of the lottery machine because it's basically under my feet and went "Oh no sir!, your lottery tickets won't go through. Silly me, I'm always tripping the wire. It takes about 10 minutes to pull up, can you wait?" at which point he stormed out and I have never seen him again.
@Paradise: lmao
%Snap: And another time I had an older lady come in with some expired chicken. "It's been in my freezer therefore it shouldn't have went bad. I want double my money back" at which case I check the expiration date and see the chicken has been out of date for 6 months. When I told her I couldn't refund it and it was noticeably out of date, she stormed straight to the back, through the door to my store managers office and complained about the "little asian bimbo". and got a new thing of chicken + her money back.
@Paradise: "Little Asian Bimbo" sounds like a lovely title for your biography when you get around to it. Does shit like this happen often? haha
%Snap: Oh absolutely, I've had a jar of pickles thrown across a desk at me, I've had a guy hit our store with his car, I've seen at least 6 accidents in our parking lot, we have a lady who intentionally freezes our lottery machine to try to get free things, and people who bring in milk with maybe half a glass in it saying "This is expired, I need a new one."
@Paradise: Good thing you're modding the help room irl then.
%Snap: Honestly, I feel like the help room prepared me for this. lmao
@Paradise: I'll make sure to send this to lionyx as propaganda for his room. Is there anything else surv specific you want to talk about? Have a fav theme?
%Snap: I love long ttp, I know it's a giant meme and I don't care what anyone says, it's the most fun theme there ever is. GreatHero approves this message That's all I have though, I'm just really thankful to the room for accepting me back.
@Paradise: He ended up getting off the blacklist and never coming back, rest in peace sweet prince. Though I think he might have been permalocked so that might have kept him from being a part of surv again. Were you around for when unfixable wanted to change the name of the theme because it had "trump" in it?
%Snap: I didn't know he got blacklisted honestly. That's sad, I liked GreatHero. Also no definitely missed that lmfao
@Paradise: Made me sad to share a state with that dude, we were still using skype back then for our staff chat I think and it was the conversation for about a week. Thankfully it stayed ttp. Did you have any questions for me or any questions that you would have wanted to ask yourself in this interview?
%Snap: Dumbest convo ever lmfao but to each their own. and I don't think it's something I'd have asked myself but I do want to share this. I went through a lot of pain and agony on really rough drugs, spent time in hospitals, had so much narcan shot in me and for so long of it didn't really care if it was the end. I had lost hope in basically everything from my family to friends and my own personal self because I could never see myself getting out of it. And I'll never forget one night blacking out from doing too much, and the whole time I was blacked out it was like every insult, compliment and everything was in my head, like constant screaming from everyone who ever cared. The people who were yelling at me to do better and get my shit together and I remember things that were told me to by staff/ex staff of this room from that experience + a lot of family/friends irl words, and I remember a few days later hopping on ps on Snap, and I got greeted by you, pq and moo in the same day which honestly felt impossible considering y'all's personal lives. I pushed away everyone in real life going through the harshest thing I ever could have done and I just want to say that no one can tell me your internet friends aren't your real friends cause I couldn't be here without some of you. And everyday even now it's still hard to think about or even be around situations nearing what I went through but I can honestly say that when you hold on to the positives of life you get a completely different approach and the positives of this website are some of the best friends you could ask for.
@Paradise: I can say that I'm happy you were able to fight through it all and that you've made it to the other side. We've had a few conversations in the past and you're definitely different now; that's expected and also a good thing with everything you've had to handle. Hopefully you'll stick around for awhile now because I like having you around and you're a good presence in this room. You already know this but my DMs are always open, especially for you. Thanks for doing the interview, I think it's been the best one yet from all the different ones I've read so far.
%Snap: That really means a lot from you. I'm always thankful for you as a friend. This was an awesome interview and I definitely have to agree on that. So now everyone has to get to this standard :P
@Paradise: Let's get it. We'll get to most of the standard questions, but I'm really just going to ask questions that I care about because most of these are boring to read if there isn't other shit that's asked.
