Killer in the Dark
Requires: 5+ players
Roles
Rules:
- Backstory: A serial killer has escaped from prison, and the city's cops are spread thin. Now, it is up to the citizens to defend their town and kill the killer in their neighborhood. Not to fear, though, you’re not alone, as the police have sent a rookie to help you out.
- In this theme, your goal is to kill the escaped serial killer before they kill everyone.
Roles
- Serial Killer: Your attack will always go first. If you roll higher than the defender, they die. You win by killing everyone else.
- Cop: Your attack will always go last. Your target will remain anonymous unless you kill them. If you attack a player who has not killed anyone that round, there is a 50% chance of your kill failing if you win the roll, but if you attack a player who did make a kill that round, your kill is guaranteed if you win the roll. When you die, the player who killed you is revealed in chat. You win by killing the serial killer.
- Citizen: Your winning attack rolls will always have a 50% chance of failing. You win by killing the serial killer.
Rules:
- At the start of the game, the host PMs the cop and serial killer their roles. It is recommended that the host uses the /pick command to select who from the PL will be the cop and serial killer in the game. Keep these roles secret from the rest of the players. All other players will be citizens.
- The serial killer's attack always goes first, and the cop’s attack always goes last.
- The serial killer’s attacks look like: “Serial Killer attacks [username].”
- The citizens’ attacks look like: “??? attacks [username].”
- The cop’s attacks look like: “The Cop attacks ???.”
- All attackers have AI.
- There is a 50% chance that a citizen’s kill will fail. The host can determine this by using the .pick command in the chat to select if the attack will hit or miss.
- The serial killer will always get a kill if they roll higher than the defender.
- If the cop attacks a player who did not make a kill that round, the chance that a successful attack will work is 50%, meaning the attack is carried out just as if a citizen were attacking. If the cop attacks a player who did make a kill that round, the chance that a successful attack will work is 100%, meaning the attack is carried out just as if the serial killer were attacking.
- When the cop is killed, the host reveals in chat who killed the cop regardless of whether the player is the serial killer or a citizen.
- If the cop reveals the serial killer’s identity by dying, any citizen who happened to attack the serial killer that turn will have a 100% chance to kill the serial killer (if they win dice roll). This only works on the round the cop dies. The 50% accuracy rule returns the next round.
- If the cop reveals the serial killer, then players who attack the serial killer will be announced by name vs ??? format, meaning the attack looks similar to how it would if the cop were attacking.
- You do not have to attack (cannot do 2 times in a row).
- While the cop is an asset to the citizens, it is the player who kills the serial killer that wins. The cop may become a target of the citizens, as he has an advantage.
